Dancing Rice, Almond Tea (陈记:舞斗米 杏仁擂茶)

Monday, February 27, 2012 0 comments

I had a walk after dinner along the Taipei Main Station and found this Dancing Rice Shopping Cart near Muji To Go. I think it's at level 2.

After trying their teas, I decided to get myself the Almond Tea flavour of the Dancing Rice as that's what I liked most. Actually, I wanted to get more but due to luggage weight issue, I only got one box. :)

Will get more should I visit again as it serves me well as breakfast in the office for about 2 months or so.

Railway Exhibition - Taipei Main Station

Thursday, February 23, 2012 1 comments

I'm lucky to have the chance to catch a glimpse of the Railway Exhibition at the Taipei Main Station. From the decoration and the way things are arranged. It does look like such exhibitions are seasonal so it's likely to change on my next visit. I wonder what's next!

As above are the indoor exhibitions

Here's the mini Railway Track display (outdoor exhibition)

Of course, I must take a photo with the Train Head for sake keeping :D

Taipei Main Station (台北车站)

I would say that during my visit at Taipei Main Station (台北车站), there's a railway train exhibition just in front of the station. On top of various exhibitions you might see during your visit, the Taipei Main Station is actually a mini shopping mall by itself.

I bought a box of delicious moji, tasty Dancing Rice, Almond Tea (陈记:舞斗米 杏仁擂茶) in that area. Even had dinner there. There's also a Muji To Go (无印良品) store where we bought pens and calculators. I think the price there seems better than in Singapore itself.

Although there aren't really a big shopping mall but here's the main interchange where you get to change to various MRT lines (捷运) or the Taiwan Train (台铁) or even the Hi-Speed Trains (高铁).

On top of all these nice shops at the Breeze Center (微风广场), on top of Taipei Main Station (台北车站), there's also a underground shopping street in that area.

Hello Kitty Sweets

Hello Kitty Sweets is located at East Area, a place that I wanted to visit so that I can see how cute my favorite kitty is. :D Probably one of the cute place where you should go at least once during any of your Taipei trip, just to look at the cute Hello Kitty decorations and food. From the waitress / waiter to restaurant decorations and food design, it's all designed according to the Hello Kitty theme and color.

The closest underground MRT linked exit is at East Area Underground Street (东区地下街), Exit 13 while the nearest MRT station is Zhong Xiao Fu Xing Station (忠孝复兴站) after Exit 4.

Address: 90号台北市大安路一段
(90, Daan Road, Section 1, Taipei City)
Operating Hours: 11:30 - 22:00
Tel: (02) 2711-1132

The Entrance

The Cake Varieties

I would want to try the Tiramisu should I visit the place again.

The Hello Kitty Wall Decos

Here's the food that we've ordered and the minimal spending at the restaurant is NT$300 per person.

For set meals, you'll be getting the Hello Kitty Pudding for Dessert.

Even the Table Decos are Hello Kitty ones

The female toilet as well!! OMG!

Btw, this cushion seat is inside the female toilet at level 2.

东区地下街 - East Metro Mall

Enjoy the pleasure of shopping along the underground shopping street at the east area (东区地下街) starts from Zhong Xiao Fu Xing Station (忠孝复兴站) across Zhong Xiao Dun Hua Station (忠孝敦化站) towards Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall Station (国父纪念馆站). The entire stretch of shopping street is pretty cool and good to walk along especially on a rainy day as it is sheltered all the way.

Address: 忠孝东路四段 (Zhong Xiao East Road Section 4)

So it's best to alight at Zhong Xiao Fu Xing Station (忠孝复兴站) and start walking along the shopping street and go back via Zhong Xiao Dun Hua Station (忠孝敦化站) when you reached the end of the shopping street. Of course, there are also numerous shopping areas above ground but that's certainly for shopping when the sky is clear :)

For us, the plan is to go shopping and drop by Hello Kitty Sweets when we reach Exit 13.

Yeliu (野柳) Geopark - Queen's Head (女王头) & More

Monday, February 6, 2012 0 comments

I used to think that at Yeliu (野柳), there was only the queen's head in that area and nothing else. But to my surprise, there's a lot more in the Geopark than just the Queen's head. Therefore, the entrance fee of TWD $50 is pretty value for money.

For those interesting in dropping by as well, here's the details of that place:
Website: www.ylgeopark.org.tw
Opening Hrs: 8am to 5pm (between May to Sep, it opens till 6pm and 6.30pm on holidays)
Tel: (02) 2492 2016
Entrance Fee: NT$50 (ADT), NT$25 (STUDENT, CHD)

With Queen's head being the main attraction, we just have to take a photo with it for sake-keeping. I believe the nice decorations around the Queen's head should be pebbles placed to identify it's location and make it even better looking than the original queen's head. And I'm pretty surprise that apart from the real Queen's Head, there's now Queen's Head II, the man-made duplicate that was created just to preserve it's original image so that even after it's gone, there's still something to look at.

Here's the real Queen's Head
Here's the replica Queen's Head 2 at a wrong angle so it
looks kind of weird but actually, it looks identical
Apart from all the identified unique rocks in the area, I also found a Triceratops Rock that really looks like the Triceratops Dino (use your imagination without the horns).

Here's the super hard to find fairy shoe's stone as it wasn't as big as I thought it'd be from the photos on the photos. It's in fact just a rather small stone on top of a bigger one close to the sea.

And other interesting photos for your imagination to run wild with...

Abalone?
Bee Hive / Honeycomb?
Bird Rock
Candle
Yeliu Geopark - Cave
Someone says it's a dog's head
Ginger Rocks
I think this looks like a gorilla lying on the seabed
Not forgetting to pose with the Hollow Rock
Ice Cream Fairy
These should be the mushroom rocks
Looks like some kind of pearl on the ground
Pearl on the rock wall
Not sure if this is the toufu rock
And more other interesting rock structure that can take up to hours to see them all.. But it's running late with various announcement that we should be going so we just have to leave the area before completing the entire place.
