Yeliu (野柳) Geopark - Queen's Head (女王头) & More

Monday, February 6, 2012

I used to think that at Yeliu (野柳), there was only the queen's head in that area and nothing else. But to my surprise, there's a lot more in the Geopark than just the Queen's head. Therefore, the entrance fee of TWD $50 is pretty value for money.

For those interesting in dropping by as well, here's the details of that place:
Website: www.ylgeopark.org.tw
Opening Hrs: 8am to 5pm (between May to Sep, it opens till 6pm and 6.30pm on holidays)
Tel: (02) 2492 2016
Entrance Fee: NT$50 (ADT), NT$25 (STUDENT, CHD)

With Queen's head being the main attraction, we just have to take a photo with it for sake-keeping. I believe the nice decorations around the Queen's head should be pebbles placed to identify it's location and make it even better looking than the original queen's head. And I'm pretty surprise that apart from the real Queen's Head, there's now Queen's Head II, the man-made duplicate that was created just to preserve it's original image so that even after it's gone, there's still something to look at.

Here's the real Queen's Head
Here's the replica Queen's Head 2 at a wrong angle so it
looks kind of weird but actually, it looks identical
Apart from all the identified unique rocks in the area, I also found a Triceratops Rock that really looks like the Triceratops Dino (use your imagination without the horns).

Here's the super hard to find fairy shoe's stone as it wasn't as big as I thought it'd be from the photos on the photos. It's in fact just a rather small stone on top of a bigger one close to the sea.

And other interesting photos for your imagination to run wild with...

Abalone?
Bee Hive / Honeycomb?
Bird Rock
Candle
Yeliu Geopark - Cave
Someone says it's a dog's head
Ginger Rocks
I think this looks like a gorilla lying on the seabed
Not forgetting to pose with the Hollow Rock
Ice Cream Fairy
These should be the mushroom rocks
Looks like some kind of pearl on the ground
Pearl on the rock wall
Not sure if this is the toufu rock
And more other interesting rock structure that can take up to hours to see them all.. But it's running late with various announcement that we should be going so we just have to leave the area before completing the entire place.
